Delight in Correction

J.A. Matteson

Blessed is the soul that hungers and thirsts after the word of the LORD, for he shall be satisfied, and his branch will yield the fruit of righteousness. Woe to the soul that is cold to the word of truth, for he walks in a precarious way where destruction is around the bend. "Behold, the word of the LORD has become a reproach to them; they have no delight in it" (Jer. 6:10b). Delight in correction, aspire to His judgements, dwell in the courts of His majesty. Pursue the illuminated way, eschew the path of darkness. Consider the depth of deceit within and slay the idol of pride. Come to the everlasting water of life, rejoice in its healing, proclaim its abundance to a desert land, to a people stumbling in darkness. Beware of so called messengers of God unwilling to proclaim the full counsel of the LORD, who dip and dive in its exposition to their own ruin and that of their hearers. Delight in the mercies of the word and it's hard sayings. Humble yourself before your God and He will lift you up. Humility of heart is as elegant perfume before the LORD, hardness of heart and deaf ears as that of rotting flesh.
