Truth is Singular

J.A. Matteson

The word of life is living and active, procuring God's intended purposes within those foreknown to Him. "Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you" (2 Tim. 1:14). In speaking to Pontius Pilot, Jesus Christ stated that He had come to bear witness to the truth, and all who are of the truth hear and follow Him. Truth is singular, not plural. The wisdom of the world persuades men to be open minded, to keep their options open, lest they offend someone with dogmatic propositional truth. Jesus Christ was unwavering in His sober declaration of the truth; indeed, being the incarnation of Truth. Inasmuch as souls are on the line and the only means by which they may be snatched from the fire is through the truth of the gospel, it is imperative that ambassadors resist the temptation of political correctness, by adding to or deleting from its essence. Let God be God, He will accomplish His purposes in those who hear the gospel. So guard it you must with all that is within you. But praise be to God that in your striving to keep it the Spirit of Truth within you enables you to keep it. To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, to preserve you blameless on that Day, be the power, honor, dominion and authority, now and forever more.
