It is good news that God saves sinners and that the word of truth is to be broadcast to all races and tongues, to all ranks within them. "This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim. 2:4-5). Far from a theological plea espousing universalism the apostle highlights that which is an abomination to the Jews; viz., salvation is available to the Gentiles. Even heathen kings are entitled to hear of the mercies of God in Jesus Christ. The LORD's revealed intent of the recipients of salvation is expressed, the identity of individuals within larger groups is confined to His secret will. In the day of Noah the LORD took no pleasure in the extermination of the wicked, neither will He when He returns to earth calling forth His bride while inflicting wrath upon those hardened in unbelief. What can be said of these things? Today is the day of salvation. Let all who hear of the mercies of the LORD through the gospel turn to Christ in faith. None are excluded from God's invitation, it is His will that all know of it, highlighting the evangelistic imperative of Jesus Christ. To all who have ears to hear, let them hear.
